This is the response from the electrician when we asked him by email about not installing 4 conductors. If there are 4 conductors to this panel - fine. If PVC conduit then you need 4 conductors. What type of conduit was used? If not metal conduit from the feeder panel to this sub panel from one end to the other you are one conductor short. Are you asking if the incorrect wire gauge was used?Īlso, how many conductors are there in that panel in the picture? I'm only seeing maybe three (3). Typically, if you install an LB on the outside of the house you can either run directly into the panel, install another LB or box inside the house then run into the panel, or install a 90 down into the top of the panel. I would recommend installing a box on the outside of the shop so you can separate the shop feed from the pump house feed. (The ground wire to the pump house can be #10 from the outside box mentioned below) You will also be required to install one or two ground rods at both buildings You will also need to pull a ground wire in and that needs to be #8 copper. I would have no problems recommending using #3 copper for your feeder with a distance of 120ft. #3 Copper THHN/THWN is rated for 100 amps at the 75-degree column. If that is the case you are required to use a subpanel that has a main breaker or back feed a breaker that is held in place with a hold-down kit. ![]() Since you mentioned digging I will assume that this is a separate building.
